Hail, Caesar!

Hail, Caesar! is the latest hilarious offering from the brilliant Coen brothers. The movie follows a day in the life of a Hollywood studio fixer in 1950, who cleans up and solves problems for big names and stars. In the course of the film, we visit the sets of several movies as they are being filmed. Big Film Design is proud to have created title sequences for these movies-within-the-movie. We tried to be authentic to the period, right down to the logos and copyright notices on the main title cards. We also created “scene missing” leaders, as well as an end credit sequence that could be described as “heavenly.”

Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is the fixer, and his troubles begin when movie star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) mysteriously vanishes from the studio. There’s singing, dancing, synchronized swimming, and skulduggery; something for everyone! The amazing cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton and Channing Tatum. Hail, Caesar! was directed by Joel & Ethan Coen and was Produced by Universal Pictures and Working Title.

Variety’s Justin Chang says, “If there’s such a thing as poker-faced exuberance, you can feel it in every loving, teasing frame of Joel and Ethan Coen’s Hail, Caesar! an inside-showbiz lark that regards the 1950s studio system with the utmost skepticism even as it becomes an expression of movie love at its purest.” more…
