Big Film Design was privileged to work with the brilliant director Gary Ross (THE HUNGER GAMES, SEABISCUIT, PLEASANTVILLE) on the title sequence and graphics for Free State of Jones. The film opens nationwide tomorrow, June 24. The title sequence is a montage of civil war era photographs, that evokes a sense of the South before the war tore it apart.

Free State of Jones is an epic action-drama set during the Civil War, and tells the story of defiant Southern farmer, Newt Knight, and his extraordinary armed rebellion against the Confederacy.

“When you’re drawing up your list of best Matthew McConaughey movies, it’s likely you’ll be adding “Free State of Jones,” a drama based on the real story of a Southerner, Newt Knight, who led escaped slaves and poor white farmers against the Confederacy during the Civil War, a war within a war that hardly anyone has ever heard about before now.”
