Barbershop: The Next Cut
Barbershop: The Next Cut, from MGM and New Line, opens in theaters nationwide this Friday April 15. Big Film Design was delighted to work with our friend, Director Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man), to create the title sequences and a variety of graphics, including tweets, instagrams, and TV news overlays, for this great new film. The main title sequence is a trip down memory lane, and features a variety of visual treatments including old film effects and camcorder viewfinders to create the nostalgic vibe.
Since the last Barbershop (this is the third movie in the Barbershop series), Calvin’s shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, the once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip, challenging the guys at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and the crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood.
Barbershop: The Next Cut stars an amazing ensemble cast including Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Regina Hall, Sean Patrick Thomas, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Jazsmin Lewis-Kelley, J.B. Smoove, Common, and Nicki Minaj.
